Indivisible Project

A grassroots movement founded in 2016 that supports thousands of volunteer-led local groups across all 50 US states, organising for political accountability and civic engagement.

Indivisible Project is a grassroots political movement founded in 2016 by former congressional staffers. It organizes local, volunteer-led groups across the United States with the aim of resisting the Trump agenda, holding elected officials accountable and building what it describes as people power from the ground up. Its operating model is explicitly bottom-up: organising is done by neighbours, through local groups, rather than directed from a central hierarchy.

The movement traces its origin to a single resource, a practical guide to resisting the Trump agenda written by former congressional staffers. First published as a Google Doc and circulated as a grassroots organising tool, the guide grew into a network of thousands of local groups. The organisation reports supporting more than 2,000 volunteer-led groups, with an organising presence in all 50 states.

Indivisible Project works across politics, civic engagement, grassroots advocacy and electoral and legislative campaigns. Its stated culture emphasises collaboration and collective action - the phrase it uses is that the only way to win is together - and mission-driven work focused on accountability, elections and protecting communities. Distribution across every state means much of the work is carried out locally and by volunteers, with a strong orientation toward community organising and neighbour-to-neighbour engagement.
