Builders Network
A cross-partisan nonprofit launched in 2021 working to reduce toxic polarization in America through media, civic dialogue programmes and congressional rankings.
Builders Network is a cross-partisan nonprofit initiative launched in 2021 to address toxic polarization in America. Its stated aim is to equip citizens with skills to move past "us vs. them" thinking and to solve problems jointly with people they disagree with. The organisation operates across the United States and works across sectors including business, media, faith, sports, academia, national defence and civic engagement.
Its work is organised around three programmes. Builders Media, the media arm, tells stories of people working across divides. Citizen Solutions convenes Americans who strongly disagree in order to find common ground and produce shared policy proposals. Builders Power Rankings publishes data-driven rankings of members of Congress according to their willingness to build rather than divide. Technical work spans digital content and media, social media and audience engagement, video production, civic engagement tools and platforms, and data-driven rankings and scorecards.
The organisation reports more than 300 Movement Partners spanning business, media, faith, sports, academia and national defence, close to 800,000 followers across digital platforms, and millions of video views. Internally, the culture is built around four principles - curiosity, compassion, courage and creativity - which underpin an emphasis on flexible thinking and constructive problem-solving. The work has been recognised with a Gold Anthem Award and a Shorty Impact Award, and the organisation was a finalist for Fast Company's World Changing Ideas.
