Unify America

Unify America builds interactive platforms and experiences that help Americans practise civic engagement and reduce polarization through structured cross-partisan dialogue.

Unify America builds interactive experiences and platforms designed to help Americans practise civic engagement and reduce polarization through structured cross-partisan dialogue. The organisation works across three formats: Civic Gym, a platform connecting college students nationwide to build and practise civic skills together, which has reached more than 226 campuses; the Unify Challenge, bi-monthly conversations pairing people of different backgrounds and beliefs to listen to one another; and Citizens' Assemblies, community gatherings in which local residents work on local problems. Thousands of participants have taken part to date.

The team's technical work spans interactive experience design, software platform development and civic technology, applied to the fields of civic engagement, higher education, democracy and public discourse, and community development. Unify America is headquartered in Evanston, Illinois, with a presence extending across college campuses nationwide.

Unify America is run by a team of creatives and technologists; its founders previously built software companies that connected millions of people. The team and its advisors are cross-partisan and span the political spectrum, and diverse perspectives are treated as an operating principle rather than a slogan. Stated values include curiosity, intellectual humility, honesty, kindness and snacks, alongside an emphasis on making the work fascinating, fun and joyful, with an orientation towards innovation and scaling.
