Red Wine & Blue

Red Wine & Blue is a national community organisation in the United States that mobilises suburban women to defeat extremism and protect democracy through grassroots organising, local groups and digital tools. The organisation reports a membership of over 600,000 diverse women, supported by regional organisers and local group leaders. Its work spans civic engagement, political advocacy and community activism, with a stated focus on democratic institutions and opposition to extremism.

On-the-ground organisers are deployed in four target states: Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio and Pennsylvania, complementing a national presence across the country. The organisation operates on a local-groups-and-regional-organisers model, and describes its culture as movement-based, holding that change happens one conversation at a time. Training programmes are run to help women become effective community organisers.

Technology work centres on three domains: mobile app development, digital organising platforms and educational content delivery. Products include the Red Wine & Blue app, a member-facing mobile application providing actionable organising tools and resources; event organising resources to help members plan and run local events; and curated educational content covering voting rights, reproductive freedom, anti-racism and protecting public education.
