Urban Peak is a non-profit organisation in Denver, Colorado, that provides a full convergence of services for young people aged 12 to 24 who are experiencing homelessness or housing instability. It is the only organisation in Denver offering such a combined service model, and it has been in operation for more than 35 years. All services are provided to youth at no cost.
Its programmes span the full arc of a young person's path out of homelessness. The Mothership, a purpose-built campus, serves as a safe haven where youth can meet their most basic needs. Around it sit a Street Outreach programme, a Drop-In Center - the organisation's original programme - emergency Overnight Shelter, and Transitional Housing for youth exiting homelessness. Education and Employment Services help youth earn a GED, return to high school, prepare for college and obtain and sustain work; individualised Case Management and Behavioral Health Support underpin the rest.
Urban Peak describes its mission as igniting the potential in youth to exit homelessness and create self-determined, fulfilled lives. The organisation is a 501(c)(3) reliant on donations from individuals and organisations, and it measures its impact: it reports a 455% increase in positive, sustainable living situations for youth and a rise of nearly $150 in monthly youth earnings. It works with more than 34 partner organisations across the Denver metro area.
