RAINN

RAINN is a US anti-sexual violence nonprofit running the 24/7 National Sexual Assault Hotline, online chat support, prevention, advocacy, victim services, and institutional training.

RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) is the largest anti-sexual violence organisation in the United States. Founded in 1994 and headquartered in Washington, D.C., it operates nationwide and has connected with more than 5.5 million survivors and their loved ones over three decades. Its work spans crisis response, prevention, advocacy and direct victim services.

The organisation runs the National Sexual Assault Hotline, a confidential service available 24 hours a day by phone, alongside a 24/7 confidential online chat resource for survivors and their families. Complementing this are three programme areas: Changing Minds, focused on prevention through education and awareness; Changing Laws, which advocates for stronger legal protections and survivor justice; and Changing Lives, which provides direct victim services, counselling and recovery support. RAINN also offers consulting and training for workplaces, schools, hospitals and other institutions, helping them create safer environments and respond appropriately to disclosures of sexual misconduct.

Work is carried out by a team of trained professionals and volunteers, guided by a philosophy of compassionate, trauma-informed care. The organisation states a commitment to transparency and fiscal responsibility and reports top ratings from Charity Navigator, Candid and the Better Business Bureau. Its mission-driven focus is on systemic change and survivor justice across the sectors it serves, including workplaces, education, healthcare and public institutions.
