Future Now is an umbrella political organization founded in 2017 to advance what it terms the American Promise through high-impact interventions at the state level. The organisation's premise is that change begins with state government; it pursues state legislative power, networks of lawmakers, and political action committee activity. Its stated priorities include effective government, fair markets, personal freedom and representative democracy, and it supports left-of-center policy positions such as a $15 minimum wage, expanded union membership and government-run health care. It also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including gender equality, ending hunger and combating climate change.
Three related activities sit under the umbrella. The States Project works to win state legislative power and to collaborate with lawmakers on policy goals for the common good. The Lawmaker Network connects legislators across states. PAC for America's Future is the political action committee that supports each of the initiatives. A further initiative, The States Forum, operates within the same family of programmes.
The organisation is supported by three nonprofit entities: PAC for America's Future, Future Now Action, a 501(c)(4), and The Future Now Institute, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organisation. Its work is focused on the United States, with an emphasis on state-level politics, public policy advocacy and civic activity. Further information is available at futurenow.org.
