Acacia Network is a human services nonprofit founded in 1969 in the South Bronx to address heroin addiction in the community. More than 55 years later, it is among the largest Hispanic-led organisations of its kind in New York, employing over 2,700 people and serving more than 150,000 individuals each year through a network of more than 100 affiliates and related entities.
The organisation delivers integrated, culturally-competent and trauma-informed programmes spanning health, housing, social services, economic development and the arts. Its work includes Federally Qualified Health Centers providing combined primary and behavioural health care, substance abuse and behavioural health treatment rooted in its founding mission, affordable housing developments for low-income communities, workforce development programmes, services for early childhood through senior years, and cultural initiatives. Technical areas of practice cover integrated healthcare delivery, behavioural health, trauma-informed care, substance abuse treatment, affordable housing development and workforce development.
Acacia Network operates across six U.S. states and Puerto Rico, with its origins and a substantial presence in the Bronx and New York City. It describes itself as Puerto Rican-founded and Hispanic-led, with a whole-person approach to programming across the lifespan and a stated commitment to underserved populations.
