Outreach

Non-profit founded in 1980 providing evidence-based substance use and mental health treatment in New York City and Long Island, plus CASAC counsellor training through the Outreach Training Institute.

Outreach is a non-profit organisation founded in 1980 in Queens, New York, that provides evidence-based drug, alcohol, and behavioral health treatment services across New York City and Long Island. Its mission is to inspire individuals and families to achieve a life of unlimited potential, and it delivers care through outpatient and residential programmes serving adolescents, adults, and women, alongside specialised treatment tracks for DUI/DWI offenders and for veterans.

Clinical practice at Outreach draws on established therapeutic approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed care. The organisation works within the healthcare, behavioral health, substance use treatment, and mental health services sectors, and has been community-rooted in Queens since its founding.

Alongside treatment, Outreach runs the Outreach Training Institute, a substance abuse counsellor training and certification programme. The institute is the oldest and largest CASAC training programme in the New York metropolitan area, and has trained more than 3,000 substance abuse counsellors since 1997. This places the organisation in both the clinical services and professional education fields.
