World Vision International

World Vision International is a Christian humanitarian organisation working in nearly 100 countries on emergency relief, long-term development, and advocacy for vulnerable children and families.

World Vision International is the world's largest Christian humanitarian organization. Founded in 1950 by Bob Pierce in response to the needs of war-torn South Korea, it now operates in nearly 100 countries and employs over 30,000 staff. Its stated mission is to work alongside communities to create lasting change for vulnerable children and families, and its founding conviction - "Let my heart be broken by the things that break the heart of God" - remains the stated basis of its culture.

The organisation combines three strands of work: emergency relief for communities affected by crises, long-term community development, and advocacy on behalf of vulnerable children and families. Sector programmes cover clean water, education, health and nutrition, child protection and livelihoods. In 2025, World Vision reports reaching 70 million people with resources to overcome extreme poverty, against a target of equipping 300 million by 2030.

World Vision works alongside communities rather than imposing solutions, and reports that 95% of its staff work in their home regions. It states that 86% of operating expenses go directly to programmes, and describes transparency as a commitment. Employees are expected to share the values-driven culture, which holds that every child deserves life in all its fullness.
