World Relief

World Relief is a Christian humanitarian organisation founded in 1944, working in over 100 countries on refugee resettlement, immigrant services and community development.

World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organisation founded in 1944, when it was commissioned by the National Association of Evangelicals to send clothing and food to victims of the Second World War. More than eight decades later, it works in over 100 countries and serves more than 3.3 million people a year, addressing humanitarian crises in partnership with the church.

Its work falls into two broad areas. Refugee resettlement and immigrant services support tens of thousands of immigrants and refugees building new lives in the United States each year, delivered through resettlement offices in American cities. Holistic community development programmes address the root causes of vulnerability across mind, body and spirit, spanning contexts from refugee camps in Sudan to domestic resettlement work.

The organisation is guided by three principles: partnerships with churches and communities that empower local faith leaders; holistic approaches to the underlying drivers of vulnerability; and interconnected solutions that link challenges across contexts. The culture is faith-based and values-driven, with an emphasis on local empowerment and sustainable change.
