Volunteers of America National Services

Volunteers of America National Services (VOANS) is the housing and healthcare affiliate of Volunteers of America, one of the nation's oldest and largest faith-based charities. Founded in 1982 and incorporated in Minnesota, the nonprofit employs more than 3,100 people and operates across more than 40 U.S. states and Puerto Rico. It is among the largest nonprofit owners and operators of affordable housing in the United States.

VOANS owns and operates more than 240 properties comprising 12,900 affordable housing units for seniors and vulnerable populations. Alongside this portfolio it runs 46 senior healthcare programs, spanning skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, home health care, adult day services and PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly). Work in the organisation spans housing development and operations, clinical and supportive services, and the coordination of the two.

The organisation's stated approach is integrated: housing is combined with healthcare and supportive services so that older adults, veterans, families and people with disabilities can live with greater independence. VOANS reports serving more than 32,000 individuals annually through these programmes. Roles therefore range from care and clinical positions to property operations and programme management.
