Verra
Nonprofit developing and operating standards and verification programs for climate action, covering deforestation, agriculture, plastic waste, and gender equality.
Verra is a nonprofit organisation that develops and operates standards and frameworks for climate action. Its work spans four areas: reducing deforestation, improving agricultural practices, addressing plastic waste, and supporting gender equality. Alongside the standards themselves, Verra runs programs that verify whether the activities covered by those standards deliver the outcomes they promise, working with governments, corporations, and other partners to put the rules into practice.
The technical work covers carbon accounting and emissions measurement, standards and methodology development, verification and validation (MRV), and greenhouse gas quantification. Applying those disciplines, Verra produces frameworks in deforestation and forest carbon, sustainable agriculture, plastic waste reduction, and gender equality and social impact. The organisation is global in reach, engaged with governments and corporations across climate and carbon markets, agriculture and land use, forestry and REDD+, waste management and plastics, and sustainable development.
For workers, Verra describes a mission-driven culture in which staff work toward ambitious climate and development goals - improving livelihoods and protecting natural resources while speeding the transition to a sustainable future. The organisation hires people with deep expertise in their fields and gives them autonomy in how they work. Employees can work from almost anywhere, making the roles suitable for candidates outside a fixed office location.
