Teach Plus

Teach Plus is a US non-profit founded in 2007 that trains experienced teachers to become policy and instructional leaders across 12 states.

Teach Plus is a non-profit organisation founded in 2007 that develops experienced teachers into policy and instructional leaders. Its stated purpose is to equip teachers to shape education policy at the district, state and national levels, on the premise that teachers should have a voice in the decisions that affect their classrooms and profession. The organisation works across the education and K-12 sectors in the United States, operating in 12 states.

Its programmes fall into three main lines of work. Policy Fellowships train experienced teachers to advocate for changes in education policy. Instructional Leadership Initiatives build teacher leaders' skills and knowledge on key policy and practice issues. The National Teacher Policy Cabinet brings together teacher leaders from around the country to develop their capacity to advocate for their students and their profession.

Teach Plus reports that its teacher leaders have published hundreds of op-eds and have testified before legislators. The organisation describes itself as mission-driven, with a focus on equity, opportunity and student success, and on empowering a diverse body of experienced teachers to move beyond the classroom and into decision-making roles.
