Pine Cove

Non-profit Christian youth camp organisation running faith-based summer camps at 13 sites across Texas, Georgia and South Carolina, serving more than 40,000 campers each summer.

Pine Cove is a non-profit Christian youth camp organisation founded in 1967 by Bill McKenzie. It runs faith-based summer camps intended to introduce young people to Jesus Christ through worship, Bible study and outdoor activity. The organisation operates 13 camps and serves more than 40,000 campers each summer across East Texas, Central Texas, Georgia and South Carolina. It is governed by a Board of Directors and is funded through donor support and the work of its staff.

Its programmes are divided into three types. Overnight camps serve grades 2-12 and combine worship services known as Club, Bible studies, one-on-one sessions with counsellors called Hangtimes, and outdoor pursuits such as water sports and ropes courses. Day camps run for grades 1-6, and family camps are designed to bring several generations together. The McKenzie Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to campers who could not otherwise attend, reaching more than 3,500 children a year.

The organisation describes its culture as Christ-centred, others-focused and "seriously fun", with a stated mission of being used by God to transform the lives of people for His purposes and His glory. Work is mission-driven and seasonal in parts, and the organisation relies on both dedicated staff and donor support to sustain its programmes.
