Partnership on AI

A non-profit partnership of academic, civil society, industry and media organisations producing tools, recommendations and multistakeholder dialogue to guide AI toward positive societal outcomes.

Partnership on AI (PAI) is a non-profit partnership of academic, civil society, industry, and media organizations. It produces tools, recommendations, and resources intended to ensure that artificial intelligence advances positive outcomes for people and society. The organisation states explicitly that it is neither a trade group nor an advocacy organisation; its work is directed toward sociotechnical research and development, public policy, and inclusive and participatory design.

PAI's output takes two main forms. The first is actionable guidance, developed by inviting voices from across the AI community and beyond to contribute insights that are then synthesised into practical recommendations. The second is multistakeholder convening and dialogue, bringing together diverse, international stakeholders to pool collective expertise and drive change. Both are supported by in-house work in research, education, and communications.

The organisation operates with a small staff team whose expertise spans facilitation, research, policy, and communications, alongside a global community of Partners drawn from academia, civil society, the technology industry and the media. Its culture is collaborative and dialogue-driven, with an emphasis on diverse, international stakeholder input and inclusive, participatory methods.
