Playlab

Playlab is a 501(c)(3) tech nonprofit offering a no-code platform that lets educators and students build AI tools for classrooms and communities.

Playlab is a 501(c)(3) technology non-profit that works to give educators and students a say in how artificial intelligence is built. Its principal product is a no-code platform on which teachers, counsellors, administrators and other school staff can construct AI tools for classrooms and communities without programming experience. The platform is supported by structured curriculum, custom frameworks and open educational resources (OER). More than 40,000 educators have published apps on it.

The organisation's work spans several technical domains: AI and machine learning, no-code platform development, open software and open AI infrastructure, and education curriculum and instructional design. Alongside the platform, Playlab maintains open applications through which educators can learn from one another's work, open software that is transparent and extendable, and open AI infrastructure that allows users to select the models powering their tools.

Playlab operates globally, serving educators and students around the world, with a presence in the United States. Its stated focus is on K-12 school districts and higher education, including community colleges. The organisation describes openness, transparency, extendability and peer collaboration among educators as core commitments, and its structure as a mission-driven non-profit shapes its approach to AI in education.
