Georgia Center for Child Advocacy

A nonprofit founded in 1987, the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy provides forensic interviews, free therapy, family advocacy and prevention education for abused children in Georgia.

The Georgia Center for Child Advocacy (GCCA) is a private, nonprofit organization founded in 1987 that works with sexually and severely physically abused children. Its programmes span prevention, intervention, therapy and collaboration, and it has served nearly 20,000 children since opening. Services are provided at no cost to the children involved.

Its work falls into four areas. Trained interviewers conduct forensic interviews, helping children describe difficult experiences in a child-friendly facility designed as a safe space. Therapeutic services provide therapy and healing support, at no cost, to children in Fulton and DeKalb Counties. Family advocacy support extends assistance to the families of abused children. Prevention education runs throughout Georgia, equipping adults and youth with awareness and resources to act against child abuse and trafficking.

GCCA operates across Georgia, with therapeutic services concentrated in Fulton and DeKalb Counties. The organisation brings together investigators, therapists and advocates in a multidisciplinary team, working along a collaborative, trauma-informed model and a child-first philosophy that places each child's needs first. The work sits within the child advocacy, social services, mental health and anti-trafficking fields.
