Divided Sky Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organisation providing addiction recovery services through a residential programme in Ludlow, Vermont. The programme has a capacity of 46 beds and combines 12-Step principles with mindfulness, meditation and Emotional Sobriety within a warm, non-clinical setting. Its daily structure includes group discussions, nature walks, exploration of spirituality and music appreciation.
The foundation describes its approach as holistic, addressing mind, body and spirit, with an emphasis on joyful sobriety rather than abstinence alone. Almost all staff members are themselves in recovery, which the organisation sees as a source of lived experience and empathetic understanding for residents. The culture is built around community, creativity and genuine connection rather than a clinical model of care.
Access to the programme is supported by partial scholarships and financial assistance, which the foundation offers to make recovery services available regardless of economic circumstances. The organisation was founded through the friendship between Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio and his former drug-court case manager Melanie Gulde.
