Children's Home Network

Florida nonprofit, founded 1892, providing prevention, intervention, foster care, residential and family support services for at-risk children across six counties.

Children's Home Network is a nonprofit provider of prevention and intervention services for at-risk children and families. Founded in 1892 by Miss Hammerly, who cared for orphaned and abandoned children, it describes itself as Tampa Bay's oldest nonprofit organization. The organisation works from a trauma-informed, strength-based practice and integrates family, school and community services.

The network operates across six Florida counties: Broward, Hillsborough, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Pasco and Pinellas, covering the Tampa Bay area and South Florida. Its programmes are varied. SEEDS is an early childhood intervention programme; Guiding Stars provides mentoring for children; Healthy Families Hillsborough delivers family support in Hillsborough County. Kids Village is a residential programme offering shelter and care for children in need.

Other services address the wider support needs of children and those who look after them. Caregiver Support Services and Kinship Support assist caregivers and relatives raising children, while Foster Care Services covers placement and ongoing support. Family Support Services brings together shelter, nutritious food, clothing, medical care, education, summer programmes, school supplies and therapeutic services. Roles are tied to a mission focused on child welfare, family services, foster care, mentoring, early childhood intervention, residential care and social services.
