Brilliant Corners

A nonprofit founded in 2004 that builds supportive housing platforms and rental assistance programs, working with government, healthcare and landlords to house formerly homeless people in California.

Brilliant Corners is a nonprofit, founded in 2004, that designs and operates supportive housing platforms and rental assistance programs to house formerly homeless and at-risk people. Working in California, with a focus on Los Angeles, it partners with government agencies, healthcare providers, landlords and developers to move individuals into permanent housing and to keep them there.

Its work spans several formats. The Flexible Housing Subsidy Pool (FHSP) is a nationally recognised rental subsidy programme that combines permanent supportive housing with voluntary services for vulnerable Angelenos. Alongside it, the organisation administers scattered-site and project-based rental assistance programmes and pairs housing placements with intensive case management. Brilliant Corners owns and manages more than 200 affordable supportive housing properties, has housed more than 20,000 people since its founding, and houses thousands of formerly homeless and at-risk people each year.

The organisation describes housing as a human right and treats homelessness as a systems failure rather than an individual one, holding that most people can live in their own home given the right supports. Its approach is collaborative and oriented towards scalable, evidence-based solutions, with activity spanning affordable housing, homelessness and supportive services, healthcare, the public sector, and real estate development and property management.
