The Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations (AAPCHO) is a national not-for-profit founded in 1987. It works to improve the health status and access to care of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders by supporting the community health centers that serve these populations. Its scope covers the whole of the United States, and its work is oriented toward medically underserved and minority communities, including the fastest-growing population in the country.
AAPCHO's activities fall into four areas: national advocacy on behalf of the distinct health needs of AA and NH/PI communities and their providers; research and data collection to inform the health needs of these populations; training programmes that build the capacity of member health centres and improve care delivery; and resources and tools for member centres working with AA and NH/PI communities. Technical domains include public health research, health data collection, health care training and technical assistance, health policy advocacy, and culturally and linguistically proficient health care.
The organisation operates as a membership-based association, collaborating with and developing leadership among community health centres across the country. It describes itself as mission-driven, with an emphasis on health equity and on care that is culturally and linguistically appropriate for the communities it serves.
