Agricultural Institute of Marin
AIM is a Bay Area 501(c)3 nonprofit operating certified farmers markets and running food access, agricultural education, producer support and waste reduction programmes.
The Agricultural Institute of Marin (AIM) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit founded in 1983 that works on sustainable food systems in the San Francisco Bay Area. For more than 40 years it has operated certified farmers markets that connect local farmers and producers directly with the communities they serve. Its stated focus includes regenerative agriculture, culturally relevant food systems and the support of local farm and food businesses.
Alongside its markets, AIM runs a set of programmes aimed at food access, education and producer support. These include Diggin' Education, which covers agricultural literacy; Farm Fresh Nutrition Access, addressing food security and nutrition; and The Rollin' Root Mobile Market, which brings fresh produce to underserved neighbourhoods. Farm and Food Business Resources provides practical support to farms and food businesses, while a Farm Audit Program maintains vendor quality standards across the markets.
Environmental sustainability is pursued through Minimal Waste Initiatives, which apply to all market operations. The organisation describes its work as equity-focused and community-facing, combining market operations with education and outreach. Further detail is available at agriculturalinstitute.org.
