Rewiring America

Rewiring America is a nonprofit organisation dedicated to electrifying homes, businesses and communities across the United States. Its stated aim is to make electrification simple, affordable and achievable for Americans, with the long-term goal of affordable, all-electric living for every household. The organisation works through data, tools, policy and community engagement, and describes its approach as community-oriented - “powered by people, one switch at a time”.

The technical work spans three areas: accessible data and tools for electrification; energy economics and household energy analysis; and policy and incentive design. Its principal product is a suite of electrification data and tools intended for a broad American audience. The scale of the undertaking is considerable: 124 million households are targeted for electrification over the coming decades.

Rewiring America operates within the residential electrification, home energy, clean energy, and climate and sustainability sectors, as well as business and community electrification. Its geographic presence is the United States. As a mission-driven nonprofit, the organisation states a focus on affordability, accessibility and equity in clean energy.
