Project Access

Global non-profit offering free one-to-one university admissions mentorship and an online learning platform, Access Academy, for low-opportunity students in over 140 countries.

Project Access is a global non-profit that provides free one-to-one mentorship programmes and online learning resources to high-potential, low-opportunity students applying to universities worldwide. Founded in 2015 at the University of Oxford, the organisation operates through six country teams - in Austria, Germany, Finland, Denmark, Poland and Singapore - and supports students in more than 140 countries.

Its flagship One-to-one Mentorship Programmes pair applicants with mentors who have successfully navigated the same application processes at their target universities, covering application essays, interview preparation and personalised guidance for both undergraduate and graduate admissions. To date, more than 5,000 mentees have been supported, with a success rate exceeding 78% in attending prestigious universities.

Alongside its mentorship work, Project Access develops and runs Access Academy, a custom online platform offering structured modules, personal statement guides, interview tips, videos, PDFs and quizzes available around the clock. Technical work spans EdTech platform development, online learning, learning management systems and content delivery. The organisation is run on a mentor-led volunteer model, with all services delivered free of charge to students.

Project Access works across the education, higher education admissions and EdTech sectors, with an explicit focus on diversity, equity and access for underrepresented applicants. Its distributed, country-team structure reflects its global remit and mission-driven culture.
