MobilizeGreen is a national nonprofit founded in 2014 that connects young people from underrepresented communities with training, internships and career opportunities in the green economy. Working across the United States, it partners with environmental employers to place participants in hands-on roles in renewable energy, forest restoration, climate policy and environmental conservation. Its network has trained more than 4,000 students, drawing on partnerships with hundreds of employers.
The organisation runs four main programmes: internships, which place youth with employers working on environmental issues; fellowships, offering leadership opportunities with partner organisations; Youth Conservation Corps-style programmes providing conservation work experience; and career readiness initiatives delivering soft skills training and professional development.
MobilizeGreen describes its work as focused on diversity, equity and inclusion in the environmental and conservation sectors, with an explicit aim of removing barriers for young people from underrepresented communities. Its stated position is that access to green careers should not depend on attending elite schools or having connections. Emphasis is placed on practical work experience combined with professional development to help participants launch careers in the green economy.
