The organisation's flagship platform, also called KoboToolbox, is designed for gathering and managing data in challenging environments. It is the world's most widely-used tool for humanitarian data collection, processing more than 25 million surveys a month. Over 35,000 organisations use the platform across more than 220 countries and territories, in sectors including humanitarian action, development, environmental protection, peacebuilding and human rights.
KoboToolbox sustains itself through partnerships, service revenue, grants and donations. It works closely with UNHCR, UN OCHA, UNICEF, the International Rescue Committee and the World Food Programme, among other organisations. The technical work covers open-source software, data collection, data visualization and humanitarian data systems.
