Humane Society of Tampa Bay
Clearwater, Florida, US
A Tampa Bay nonprofit animal welfare organisation operating a shelter, an AAHA-accredited veterinary hospital, adoption, TNVR, pet assistance and humane education programmes.
The Humane Society of Tampa Bay is a nonprofit animal welfare organisation working to end animal homelessness and provide care for companion animals in need across the Tampa Bay community. The organisation has served the region for more than 100 years and operates from Tampa, Florida, relying on donations, volunteers and partnerships to fund its work.
Its operations span a full-service animal shelter offering adoptions of dogs, cats, rabbits, reptiles, birds and barnyard animals, alongside an Animal Health Center providing preventative care, vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery and other surgical procedures. The hospital at its Tampa location was the first non-profit animal hospital in Florida to achieve AAHA accreditation. Further services include trap-neuter-vaccinate-return (TNVR) work for feral cat populations, lost and found pet services, and community pet assistance programmes for local owners.
Specialty initiatives include Dolly's Dream Dogs, for dogs with special needs, and Working Cats, which places cats suited to outdoor roles. Humane education forms a further pillar of the organisation's remit, delivered through school presentations, children's birthday parties, Critter Camp and teen volunteer programmes.
Staff and volunteers work across veterinary medicine, animal sheltering and adoption, community services and education, in a mission-driven environment shaped by family- and community-oriented programming.
