Habitat for Humanity of Broward

Habitat for Humanity of Broward is a nonprofit housing organisation operating in Broward County, Florida. Part of the international Habitat for Humanity network, it builds affordable homes for low-income families in the county. Its homebuilding model combines community volunteer labour with professional construction oversight to hold down costs.

The organisation runs two main programmes. Affordable Home Construction covers the new build of safe, decent and affordable homes for families in need. ReStore is a retail operation that sells donated building materials, with proceeds directed to funding the housing programmes.

Habitat for Humanity of Broward is volunteer-driven and funded by donor contributions, and works to build community support and awareness for affordable housing. Families are selected through a partnering model: they must demonstrate need, a willingness to partner, and the ability to afford an affordable mortgage.
