Digital Harbor Foundation

A Baltimore nonprofit running a youth Tech Center with maker programs, STEM workshops and career readiness training, focused on digital equity for underserved communities.

Digital Harbor Foundation is a nonprofit organisation focused on digital equity and youth education. Based in Baltimore, Maryland, it runs the Digital Harbor Tech Center, a youth technology centre created by converting a closed-down recreation centre into a space where young people can explore, create and build real-world technology skills. Its work is aimed at students from underserved communities, with the stated goal of making digital skills accessible and increasing diversity in the technology sector.

The foundation's programmes span several formats. Maker Programs provide hands-on learning experiences in which youth design and build; STEM Workshops deliver progressive learning that develops with a student's interests and abilities; and Career Readiness Initiatives help young people assemble the technical skills, confidence and professional connections needed for the modern workforce. Collectively these cover technology education, maker-space programming, digital skills training and workforce readiness.

The organisation describes its approach as collaborative and experimental, working alongside educators, researchers and community partners. Its culture emphasises hands-on learning, community-driven innovation and the belief that technology should serve everyone, with particular attention to building confidence and connections as well as technical ability.
