Blue Star Families is a nationwide nonprofit network founded in 2009 by military spouses and built by and for military families. It provides evidence-based programmes and advocacy for the spouses, caregivers and families of service members, and describes itself as the nation's largest military family support organisation. Its work reaches more than 1.5m family members a year, drawn from a network of over 300,000 members and local chapters across the United States.

The organisation's programmes address specific pressures of military life. The Spouse Employment Program targets the career disruption caused by frequent relocations; the Caregiver Support Program provides resources for family caregivers; Mental Health Resources confront the strain of long separations; and Community Integration Programs work on the ground to build connection among military families and to bridge the civilian-military divide.

Its approach is explicitly evidence-based and data-driven, spanning data-driven programme design, research and advocacy. The organisation grew from grassroots origins into a national body, retaining a mission-driven focus on turning isolation into belonging and challenges into resilience. Presence is concentrated in the United States, with local chapters distributed across the country.
