Ascendigo
Ascendigo is a nonprofit providing autism services through residential care, adventure-based therapeutic recreation, behavioral therapy and vocational training for children and adults.
Ascendigo is a nonprofit organisation providing autism services across three program lines: residential care, community-based therapeutic recreation, and vocational support. Its clinical work is grounded in applied behavior analysis and behavioral therapy, with programs designed and guided by Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and certified therapeutic recreation specialists. The organisation serves both children and adults on the autism spectrum, and describes its approach as holistic and personalised rather than one-size-fits-all.
Community-based therapeutic recreation is a distinguishing element of the model. Outdoor activities such as skiing, hiking, water sports and wilderness experiences are used as therapeutic tools to build social skills, physical fitness and independence, combining behavioural science with structured recreational opportunities. Vocational training and support extends the work into the workplace, helping neurodivergent individuals develop job skills and pursue personal goals.
The organisation is mission-driven and neurodiversity-affirming in its language and practice, with an emphasis on empowerment and life enrichment alongside clinical intervention. Roles at Ascendigo span behavioral therapy, applied behavior analysis, therapeutic recreation and vocational support, working across residential and community settings.
