American Families for Vaccines (AFV) is a political advocacy organisation founded in 2020 and described as the nation's first pro-vaccine political advocacy group. Its stated purpose is to mobilise what it calls the pro-vaccine majority to defend science-based public health laws, promote accurate vaccine information, and support vaccine confidence and access in legislatures, courts and communities across the United States. The organisation grew out of a grassroots campaign to strengthen Maine's childhood vaccine law, and it retains a community-organising model centred on neighbours mobilising locally.
Two structures carry out that work. AFV launches and supports state-based Families for Vaccines chapters, which equip local advocates to lead campaigns for stronger immunisation laws in their own states. In 2025 the organisation added the AFV Action Fund, a 501(c)(4) affiliate established to reflect its national advocacy mission.
AFV operates nationwide within the public health advocacy, nonprofit and political advocacy, and legislative and legal advocacy fields. Its stated values emphasise science, accurate information, and vaccine confidence and access, alongside a commitment to raising a next generation of pro-vaccine advocates and to mutual care.
