Tri-County Community Action Agency

Non-profit community action agency founded in 1965, running Head Start, housing, weatherization and emergency services for families in three Southside Virginia counties.

Tri-County Community Action Agency (TCCAA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit community action agency founded in 1965. Its stated mission is to eliminate the violence of poverty through advocacy, empowerment and self-sufficiency programmes for families in Southside Virginia. The agency has operated for nearly six decades and serves three counties: Halifax, Charlotte and Mecklenburg.

The agency's flagship programme is Head Start, an early childhood initiative that prepares young children for kindergarten while providing resources to support their families. Alongside it, TCCAA runs Housing Services, which assists families in achieving stability through housing support; a Weatherization Assistance Programme providing energy and weatherisation help to households facing hardship; and Emergency Services delivering urgent assistance. The organisation combines direct aid with education and empowerment aimed at longer-term self-sufficiency.

TCCAA works through collaborative partnerships and strategic community relationships, and emphasises engaged staff, parent involvement and wider community engagement. Its work spans the non-profit and community services, early childhood education, housing, energy assistance and emergency social services fields.
