Redlands Christian Migrant Association

Florida non-profit founded in 1965 providing early childhood education, Head Start, charter schools and family support to low-income and migrant farmworker communities across 21 counties.

Redlands Christian Migrant Association (RCMA) is Florida's largest non-profit provider of early childhood education and support services for children in low-income and migrant farmworking families. Founded in 1965 and rooted in the Redlands labour camp of south Miami-Dade County, it now operates across 21 Florida counties and serves approximately 4,600 children a year. Its services run from early childhood through the primary grades: nearly 60 Child Development Centers, 19 Partner Family Child Care Homes, three K-8 charter schools, multiple afterschool programmes, Migrant and Seasonal Head Start programmes and Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten.

Beyond the classroom, RCMA provides family support and health-care assistance to the communities it serves. Its work in educational technology and digital access includes supplying WiFi hotspots and tablets so that children can complete homework and reach online resources. The organisation describes its approach as holistic, centred on children's learning and wellbeing, and shaped by decades of trust built within those communities.

RCMA's workforce reflects the families it serves. It recruits staff from the same communities; many employees are former farmworkers themselves. Bilingual staff and culturally relevant care are standard features of its services.
