A nonprofit founded in 1967 that funds psoriatic disease research and runs advocacy, patient support and education programmes across the United States.
The National Psoriasis Foundation (NPF) is a patient-centric nonprofit founded in 1967 to cure psoriatic disease and improve the lives of those affected. A qualified 501(c)(3) organisation (EIN 93-0571472), it represents more than 8 million people in the United States with psoriatic disease and maintains an office in Alexandria, Virginia, while operating nationally.
Its work spans four areas. Advocacy programmes represent people with psoriatic disease, including efforts to secure access to therapies. Support programmes connect patients with qualified health care providers. Education programmes cover psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis for patients and the wider community. Research funding and collaboration initiatives operate under a five-year strategic plan intended to accelerate discovery and cross-sector collaboration; the foundation describes itself as the leading nonprofit psoriatic disease research organisation in the world.
The organisation's technical focus covers psoriatic disease research, dermatology, rheumatology and health outcomes research. It is informed by clinicians in dermatology and rheumatology from across the country, and is led by people with firsthand experience of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.
