Faith in Place

Faith in Place is a multifaith environmental non-profit founded in 1999. It works with communities of faith across Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin to educate, connect and advocate for environmental and climate justice, bridging environmental activism with spiritual community engagement.

The organisation operates through three programme areas: Sustainable Energy, which advocates for affordable and clean energy for all; Healthy Communities, which works to secure free access to natural spaces and a healthy environment; and People-Powered Futures, which invests in individuals to shape and champion their own future. Its work spans community organising and education, clean energy advocacy and faith-based environmental stewardship. Faith in Place coordinates more than 200 Green Teams in houses of worship across the region.

Faith in Place describes itself as inclusive of people of all faiths and spiritualities, with a focus on empowering grassroots leadership and values of ecological stewardship and environmental justice. Its presence covers Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and the wider Midwest.
