Endeavors

Endeavors is a national faith-based service organization founded in 1969 by five Presbyterian churches in San Antonio, Texas. It works with people facing homelessness, disaster, disability, unemployment and other crises, combining immediate assistance with long-term support intended to move clients toward safety, stability and self-sufficiency. The organisation operates across the United States.

Its programmes span several areas of human services. These include Mental Health and Wellness Care; Rapid-Response and Shelter Services for people in acute crisis; Case Management to support sustained progress; Disaster Relief for survivors; Supportive Housing for those facing homelessness; and Workforce Programs for people facing unemployment and other barriers to employment. Endeavors Unlimited, a separate business line, provides job-supportive services, direct employment, custodial services and grounds maintenance for people with disabilities.

The organisation serves veterans, military families, first responders, disaster survivors and people with disabilities, among other vulnerable groups. Its stated culture is mission-driven by faith, while services are delivered without proselytizing and with respect for people of all backgrounds and beliefs. Roles at Endeavors sit within nonprofit and human services work across the fields of veterans services, military family support, first responder support, disaster relief and recovery, homelessness and supportive housing, disability services and employment, behavioral and mental health, and workforce development.
