Eastern National

A 501(c)3 nonprofit founded in 1947 that supports America's national parks through museum stores at 170+ Park Service units and educational publishing, including Passport To Your National Parks®.

Eastern National is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit cooperating association founded in May 1947 to promote public understanding and support of America's national parks and other public trust partners. It does so through educational experiences, products and services. The organisation was established by National Park Service rangers who convened at Gettysburg National Military Park, and it began with initial capital of $147. Its first published title was "Abraham Lincoln: From His Own Words and Contemporary Accounts", developed and sold at Abraham Lincoln National Birthplace Historical Park.

Retail and publishing form the core of its operations. Eastern National runs museum stores at more than 170 units of the National Park Service, spanning 33 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. Its best-known publication is Passport To Your National Parks®, described as America's #1 selling national park guidebook. Across its activities the organisation operates in national parks and public lands, museum retail, publishing, and education and interpretation.

Since founding, Eastern National has contributed more than $180 million to its partners. Those contributions support the purchase of artifacts, period costumes, signage and exhibits, facility renovations and staff training programmes, and fund archaeological, historical and cultural research affecting parks and interpretive programmes.
