Digital Promise

Digital Promise is a global nonprofit working across education research, practice and technology to expand learning opportunity, reaching 4.4 million students and 201 districts in 27 countries.

Digital Promise is a global nonprofit that works at the intersection of education research, practice and technology to expand opportunity for learners. Founded in 2011, the organisation was created through bipartisan legislation signed by President George W. Bush and launched by President Barack Obama. Its vision is of well-being, fulfilment and economic mobility for every learner, pursued through an equity-centred approach and through collaborative co-design with educators, researchers, technology leaders and communities.

Its work spans several connected areas. Research efforts generate knowledge to empower learning across the lifespan while centring equity. National Networks connect forward-thinking educators, researchers and students around shared priorities. Programs provide educators and communities with resources to move ideas about teaching and learning from aspirational concepts to proven practices. Digital Promise also offers micro-credentials that help adult learners advance their careers, and runs an initiative expanding K-12 students' access to high-speed internet. Technical domains include the learning sciences, technology innovation, micro-credentials, school broadband connectivity and educator professional development.

The organisation reports impact across 4.4 million students, 180,000 teachers and 201 districts, reaching 27 countries. Its industry verticals are K-12 education, adult education and workforce development, education technology and education research, with a presence in the United States and globally. Much of the work is grounded in real-world, on-the-ground practice in schools and communities.
