CIEE (Council on International Educational Exchange) is a U.S. nonprofit founded in 1947 and describes itself as the country's oldest and largest study abroad and intercultural exchange organisation. Its mission is to advance cross-cultural understanding through people-to-people exchange programmes, and it operates across the United States and a global network spanning more than 30 countries.
The organisation runs four main programme lines. College Study Abroad Programs place students in overseas study arrangements, serving more than 12,000 students each year. High School Programs deliver exchange and study programmes through partnerships with 4,000 U.S. high schools. Summer Work Travel USA brings international visitors to the United States for summer work and travel. International Exchange Visitor Programs welcome some 35,000 international exchange visitors annually across a global network.
CIEE works across education, study abroad, international cultural exchange, youth and student travel, and work exchange programmes. Over more than 75 years of operation it has worked with thousands of participants and positions itself as a legacy institution in its field.
