Christian Alliance for Orphans

A nonprofit alliance founded in 2004, uniting 300+ organizations and churches to serve vulnerable children and families through foster care, adoption and child welfare research.

The Christian Alliance for Orphans (CAFO) is a nonprofit alliance founded in 2004 that unites organizations and churches around shared initiatives serving vulnerable children and families. Its work spans foster care, adoption, family strengthening and international child welfare, with a global network of churches connected to more than 300 member organizations.

Two flagship efforts anchor its programme. The CAFO Summit is an annual gathering of Christian leaders, professionals and parents working with vulnerable families. The CAFO Research Center supplies Christian leaders and caregivers with peer-reviewed research in child welfare, aimed at informing practice among caregivers and organizational leaders.

The alliance operates on a collaborative model: members are expected to 'leave their logos and egos at the door' and to pursue shared initiatives and joint ownership of outcomes. The stated aim is work on a scale no single entity could achieve alone, grounded in a faith-driven mission and supported by peer learning and evidence-informed practice.

Financially, administration costs are met by sponsors and membership fees, so 100% of donations pass directly to CAFO initiatives.
