Nonprofit youth development organisation founded in 1926, running clubs across Hillsborough and Pinellas counties with academic, wellbeing, leadership and workforce readiness programmes.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tampa Bay is a nonprofit youth development organisation founded in 1926, originally as the West Tampa Boys Club by the Rotary Club of Tampa. Nearly a century on, it operates clubs across Hillsborough and Pinellas counties and is one of the largest youth-serving agencies in the Tampa Bay region. The organisation provides a safe, supportive environment in which young people learn, grow and build a sense of belonging, with a stated commitment to ensuring every child has access to the resources they need.
Its work is structured around preparing youth and young adults for college, career and life. Programming spans academic success and literacy initiatives, health and wellbeing activities, life skills and leadership development, and workforce readiness training. Three specialist programmes sit alongside these: a Culinary Programme, which lets young people explore culinary interests and build practical skills; Future Leaders, a dedicated leadership development track; and Blue Door Academy, which offers opportunities to explore interests and develop essential skills.
Employees work within a mission-driven, community-rooted organisation spanning the non-profit, education, workforce development and community services sectors. The emphasis throughout is on mentorship, opportunity and sustained support for young people across the Tampa Bay area, from West Tampa, where the organisation began, to clubs throughout Hillsborough and Pinellas counties.
